Memory

Anish Kapoor's first exhibition at the Guggenheim NY, a site specific piece made with 24 ton Cor-Ten steel (same materials used by Richard Serra). The sculpture is never seen in its entirety and as the audience, you must travel through the museum's 3 different vantage points (entrances) to see only the glimpse of the sculpture "mental sculpture". The third view is a window that allows the viewer to see the work behind the work as a 2 dimensional piece (seeing the inside of the sculpture) which is best reflected in his statement "I am a painter working as a sculptor". His work is monumental, precise, and left me in awe. Showing at the Guggenheim through March 28th, 2010.
