Ogilvy & Mather New York is pleased to announce The February Show, a group exhibition curated by Jun Lee and Heather Hart, which will open on Thursday, February 17, and remain on view through June 30, 2011. The February Show aims to highlight the diverse perspectives behind the concept of Black History Month. Similarly, the title, The February Show, is meant to spark a dialogue about how effectively this celebration inspires us to expand our knowledge of our national history, and the implications of limiting the recognition of Black American culture to a specific month.
The exhibition maps artwork across disciplines and aesthetics to represent the complexity of contemporary art. The February Show will present over 25 works, including those of Derrick Adams, Ernest A. Bryant III, Julia Brown, Mike Cloud, Yashua Klos, Simone Leigh, Kambui Olujimi, Jessica Ann Peavy, William Ransom, Loul Samater, Xaviera Simmons, Jeffrey Sims, Shinique Smith, Devin Troy Strother, Marc Andre Robinson, Hank Willis Thomas, Jina Valentine, Paula Wilson and Saya Woolfalk.
