Quicktake: Rodarte

Founded in 2005 by Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Rodarte is widely acclaimed for its daring and conceptual fashion collections. The installation offers a glimpse into the Mulleavys' unique process and inspiration at an important point in their career; recently Rodarte was awarded the 2009 Womenswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and was named a 2009 fashion design finalist for Cooper-Hewitt's National Design Awards. Rodarte's creations feature complex manipulation of materials and other meticulous techniques evocative of haute couture through an American lens. The Mulleavys deliver emotionally powerful, dynamic collections that interweave extremely hard and delicate elements simultaneously. Recent runway collections have referenced disparate themes, such as the building and taking apart of homes, California Condors, Boris Karloff as Frankenstein, land art and Japanese horror films.

The Shark

Winner of the latest Audi & Domus Academy competition, 26 year old Turkish born Kazim Doku designs environmentally friendly concepts, economic and space efficient hybrid automobiles. The shark is a hybrid motocycle with a car outershell. Combines the excitement of riding a motocycle with the security of a automobile.

Stumbled upon the wooden walkway pictures taken by Katy Elliott on her visit to the Portland Flower show.

Fatcap Chair

Came across this randomly during research today on the Clutter Magazine blog. Check out these chairs, you can do whatever you want with them: order it in white or have them do a custom paint job. So far there are two different style to choose from, New York Fatcap or Hooded Fat Cap. The artist behind the Capchaired design is Sander Van Heukelom from Netherlands. Quick Fix-Up

Well, not exactly quick, but definitely quicker than you think. It's quite sophisticated too and perfect for filling up your wall or even space depending on how big of a room you have. Sets off the mood and whole atmosphere. Oh, FYI these are totally malleable so you can change it all you like. It could even be a seasonal thing. Grass on your...

Add some greens to your space with the help of Grassland. Pretty cool concept. The crazy part is, it is dried grass, which means that you don't even have to worry about taking care of it. Nice!
