Besides its commitment to the preservation of cultural treasures, the museum also sees itself as a public forum for innovation. To this end, one third of its 3800 square metres of display space is given over to the two to three special exhibitions the museum mounts every year. The aim of these exhibitions is to create a stimulating and illuminating dialogue between the permanent collection, which covers a set period of time, and the present-Mission Statement
